Constructing Route 444 — Neve Yamin-Eyal
Constructing a new two-lane 5km long road between Neven Yamin and Kibbutz Eyal in both directions, including bridged sections of Route 444 over Route 6. The route outline is planned beginning east of Route 6 and west of the Israel-West Bank Security Fence. The area was expropriated by Cross Israel Highway Ltd. A security wall will be built by the IDF on one section of the road.
The road will serve the population of the region, providing rapid access to the national road system, including completing the segment of Route 444 that does not currently exist.
Route 444 constitutes a regional thoroughfare alongside Route 6 between the Ben Shemen Interchange and the Earon Interchange. In the section between Neve Yamin Interchange in the south and Eyal Interchange in the north, the road’s “historical” outline crossed the city of Qalqilya. Due to security concerns, this path was disconnected and route 444 ceased to exist between these two interchanges and the traffic is diverted westbound to Route 55, and from there due north to Route 5504, and east to Route 551 via Eyal Interchange.
At present, the contractor is working on establishing the bridge supports on both sides of Route 6, and is also promoting the traffic arrangement for expanding Route 6 in the area of the future bridge (a temporary expansion to support future bridge construction).
Furthermore, earthworks and concrete works, as well as works to upgrade sewer lines near the future road, are being carried out along the new road’s outline.
