About us

Cross Israel Highway Ltd. was founded in 1993 with the goal of connecting all parts of Israel, shortening the distance between the outlying areas and the Center, and allowing Israelis to arrive rapidly and safely at their destination. The company was assigned to build Route 6, Israel’s first toll road. The company name was originally named Cross Israel Highway Ltd., with an appropriate logo design.

Over the years, it constructed 13 road segments of Route 6 that include 24 interchanges. It maintained and expanded its lanes and constructed connecting roads. Currently, Route 6 is Israel’s primary transportation artery, serving approximately 270,000 vehicles per day. It allows drivers to traverse 188 km from north to south, without traffic lights, in less than two hours.

Between 2017 and 2019, the company changed its goals, expanded the scope of its operations, and doubled its work force. Nowadays, it serves as a leading government operation agency for building complex national infrastructure initiatives and projects, in 4 areas:

  • Roads — expanding and developing the national roads network.
  • Trains — spearheading the Light Rail Haifa-Nazareth project, currently under construction. The light rail line will span 41km, enable the development of new neighborhoods and cities along its route, and serve approx. 100,000 passengers per day.
  • Mass transit — converting private vehicle lanes to HOV lanes, thereby improving Israel’s public transportation network.
  • Toll roads — following the successful creation of Israel’s first toll road, in 2010 the company was made the supervising authority, responsible for all of Israel’s toll roads: Route 6, Cross North Highway, the fast lane, and the Carmel tunnels

The company publishes international tenders in its various fields of operation, in accordance with needs, and integrates into its activity leading international infrastructure firms, in various aspects of both planning and implementation.

Over the years, the company initiated and developed innovative solutions for landscape preservation, nature reserve conservation, and plant and animal protection, while constructing advanced infrastructure that contributed to reducing air pollution in Israel. The company continues to strive towards expanding and developing the public transport system in Israel and the national road network for the benefit of all.

Following the change in the company’s designation and the expansion of its operations, its board of directors and top management decided in April 2019 to change its name to "Cross Israel" (pending government approval). With the choice of a new name, a new logo was also designed for the company, which was launched in July 2019.
